Oklahoma City was absolutely LOVESICK the evening that The Happy Fits brought their tour to the Tower Theatre. The night opened with BEL, an LA-based artist, who was accompanied by Cole Heramb on guitar and Alexa Shafer on drums. Her set was mostly mellow songs with especially soft guitar parts.

BEL’s sweet personality seems to shine through in her stage presence and fans have the opportunity to experience it one on one since she hangs out at her merch booth after her set. Although her songs were mostly delicate sounding, the final song of her set was upbeat and had the crowd jumping and dancing around which was exactly what everybody needed to get hyped up for the headliner.
Everybody needed to be hype, too, because The Happy Fits started their performance with very high energy. From the first song, the audience was upbeat. As I stood there taking pictures, I could feel the barricade moving behind me with fans jumping, dancing, and singing along to the songs.
The Happy Fits performed in front of a huge backdrop that displayed the album cover of their newest album, Lovesick, with a matching bass drum. Stationed at the front and center of the stage, Calvin Langman had his cello strapped to him so that he could still jump and move around the stage, something I had never seen before. One of the things about The Happy Fits that I find very impressive is how every single band member sings. Not just backup vocals, but each member has their own solo vocal moments throughout their set, showcasing the talent within the band. Nico Rose delivers insane guitar riffs and solos throughout the night in addition to vocals, along with the graceful Raina Mullen, and Luke Davis on drums.

The Happy Fits name is extremely fitting as the whole venue seemed happy from front to back and top to bottom. The venue wasn’t completely packed but most definitely had the energy of one. Even while I stood at the very back of the room, fans were dancing as if the band was 5 feet away. This was a show that was wholly and thoroughly full of joy, talent, and some good cello.
